Our Sunflower Festival features thousands of sunflowers of all shapes, sizes and colors - giving you the perfect opportunity to discover your favorite sunflower amongst 30 different varieties. When you find your favorite, you can take it home! You can also purchase a bucket to fill with sunflowers and take with you, so you can bring the festival home with you. As you explore the sunflower maze, there are ‘prop stops’ to make sure everyone has a chance to get pictures that are perfect for social media. We love to be tagged on Facebook! The festival also features a petting zoo, a vendor fair, games for the whole family, and food on site, including snow cones and freshly-squeezed lemonade to help you stay cool. 

 

Every year, the sunflowers are planted on Memorial Day, giving them just the right amount of time to bloom beautifully for the festival. When thinking of sunflowers, the distinctive black oilseed sunflower with a brown center full of seeds and narrow, yellow petals may come to mind, but our festival includes several other varieties that are produced for their flowers, rather than for seeds. This means in addition to providing a chance to get out of the house, the beautiful floral sunflowers also provide pollen, nutrients and habitats for bees and butterflies - pollinators that play an important role in growing flowers and crops. 

 

This year’s festival will feature a brand new variety that’s been recently developed: the Van Gogh Sunflower. This flower can display one or more colors ranging from orange, gold, red, pink and any combination in between, and has taken over a decade of farming to produce.
